Outlook 2003 /2007 mailbox permissions
Hiwhat is the best way to give access from a user point if you wanted to share ie amailbox or callender. The reason I as is that when users manage access rights it take days for it to work and give access, sometimesit does not work at all. The only other option isviathe server but this seems to be all or nothing.thanks

Hi,These client settings permission stored inside Exchange mailbox and on top of the folder in ACL table ofMAPI folder so it doesn't require time for replication (it may take sometime in cache mode but not a day as you mentioned). Are you sure that users are configuring correct folder permissions? For permission which similar to Full Mailbox access, users need to give this folder permission in outlook at top of the mailbox as well as on all sub-folders.You may also create two mail-enabled security groups (one for editor and second for reviewer) and admin can assing folder permissions to these groups while creating and setting up shared mailbox/calendar first. Now whenever owner want's to give/remove permission then he/she can just add/remove the user from the group to do required thing.Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Which version of exchange server do you use? Please describe the procedure that usersare used toset the permission on their outlook client Please try to use the procedure in the article below to set the permission Minimum permissions necessary to access mailbox data The change should happen very quickly, if its not,we can use PFDavAdmin to confirm if the permissions are set properly a. Launch tool on client [Install NET Framework 1.1 at first] b. File menu->connect->set the parameters->OK (Please refer to this article) c. Expand Mailboxes->problematic users mailbox->Top of Information Store, right-click the folder you set the permissions, select Folder Permissions, see if the settings is correct Also, we can enable the troubleshooting log on the problematic users outlook (KB 300479) and reset the permission, then check the communication between client and server
