Outlook - search matches disappear when modified (but not lost)

I have Outlook 2010

- I search for a keyword

- matches are displayed

- I modify a match and then it immediately disappears. E.g.: I reply to the email or categorize it, then it immediately disappears. Or I click on it so it is no longer unread, but read - this is again a modification, and it disappears.

- when I say "disappear" I  mean that it only disappears from the search results, it is not deleted.

- if I clear the search field, and all the emails are displayed and then I search again for the same keyword, I again have all the results.

This problem just recently started happening this week. Nothing about my computer or version of Outlook has changed. I tried running Outlook in safe mode and the problem persists.

Hi,

We can run outlook with the /cleanviews switch:
Press Win + R and type outlook.exe / cleanviews in the blank box, then press Enter.

The /cleanviews switch restores all folder views to their default settings. It works by deleting all the hidden items that store view customizations, both views that the user has created and changes to the standard views.

Or we can delete and rebuild index to check the result. Click searching box, then click Search Tools -> Search Options -> Search -> Index Options -> Advanced -> Rebuild.

Feel free to post it back with details.

Neither of these solutions worked for me.
