Outlook/Exchange 2013 - send a meeting with a color category

We simply want to send a meeting invite that has a color category assigned lets say "red" and the color is red.

When we send the meeting the recipient does not get the red category, they get whatever their default category is usually blue.

We are on Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2013, there is NO default rule in Outlook to "clear categories" that is apparently for older versions of Outlook so that is not the issue.

We have also set the set-casmailbox -clearcategories to $false , so Exchange server itself should not be removing them.

None of this works. So having said all that, does anyone know how to send a meeting with a color category and let the recipient see it?

Hi

As per the information and details provided by you, to send a meeting with a color category, please follow these steps: -

A color category must be listed in the color category list before you can assign it. If the color category is not listed, you can simultaneously create a new color category and assign it to an item for the first time. You can also choose from several default color categories and rename them to be more meaningful to you.

To assign a color category, do the following: -

  • For a message in your Inbox or any message list: - Right click the message, point to Categorize, and then click a color category.

  • In an open message: - On the Message tab, in the Option group, click Categorize, and then click a color category.

To see more categories or to create a new category, click All Categories to open the Color Categories dialog box. To assign a color category from the Color Categories dialog box, you must select the check box next to the color category. The color Categories dialog box is also a quick way to assign multiple categories to an item.

I hope this information will be helpful for you.

Thanks and regards

Hi,

The color category would not be send with the meeting request. This is the expected behavior.

When we create a meeting request in Calendar, set Red Category for this request, then send out the request. The calendar item would be shown as Red Category in the organizers calendar. But there is no category in attendees calendars.

The color category would not be sent with the meeting request.
