Outllook 2007 asking for another users credentials
We just migrated all our users from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. We move one user over a few days earlier and since we have moved the rest the first user is getting a login screen for another user everytime she opens up her outlook. I've tried recreating the outlook profile but that does nothing. I need help please. Thanks, Matt

Is the profile set to open another users mailbox when launching outlook? Any permissions to another users mailbox? Is the user able to get to the mailbox using OWA without being prompted twice? I'm thinking that she is opening another mailbox that she may no longer have permissions to. What server is it trying to authenticate against?SF - MCITP:EMA, MCTS: MOSS 2007, OCS 2007, Exchange 2007

I deleted her Mailbox and recreated a new one along with the profile. I'm still getting a logon that pops up and is populated with another user. This just happened when we moved the rest of the users over to exchange 2007. Its so frustrating cause its locking the other users account out.

Right click on Outlook Icon in the task bar and hold Control key check connection status and see where OL is connected. is it something that other user is still on 2003 and the affected user is on 2007?Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

All the users are on 2007 now. I even deleted the mailbox and profile and recreated it. Which should get rid of any setting that might be causing this. I will now be having the user logon to another machine and setup outlook and see if this issue is tied to a specific machine. I will post results later today. Thanks, Matt

OK I had the user connect to owa, which uses basic authentication internal since ISA is doing the forms based. The user has the other users domain\username populated again just like Outlook. I cleared all the stored password is IE before I tried this. Still stuck. Thanks. matt

Could you compare the LDP dump of both users? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271201Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

That applies to Exchange 2000 will that work on Exchange 2007?

it doesnot matter. as it will just dump the ad attribues. please carry out the below steps one more work around would be to compare get-mailbox <alias1> | fl with gat-mailbox <alias2> | fl and then compare.Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

OK I've ran both of those. I don't see anything the same in the powershell scripts I've ran. What should I be looking for? On a side note. I did try another computer internally and when using owa the logon box is populated with the other users credentials. This would seem to rule it out being a computer issue. It most be something with her account.

Does she have any relationship with the other use? Delegate, admin etc? What about the other user? Are they having any problems? Seems odd, I would think the outlook profile woudl be the culprit but since it is happening in OWA it would seem there is another folder or security tempalte that is trying to open from the other users account. Is the mailbox a shared mailbox or another users mailbox? Anything with delegation on the calendar or inbox of the other user?SF - MCITP:EMA, MCTS: MOSS 2007, OCS 2007, Exchange 2007

She has no relationship with the other user. The 2nd user is not having any issues except for getting her account locked out because of 1st user that keeps asking for 2nd users credentials. This is very odd and have not seen anything like this before. This is a users mailbox and they is no delegation of the inbox of calendar that I can see. Don't know what to do next.

So it is apparent that there is a relationship between that user and the user account. Do you happen to have Exchange 2003 still in the environment? If so open ADUC with the Exchange 2003 plugin and check the advanced features on both users. See if there is any type of permission there. The other thought woudl be to check outlook rules and see if there are any server side rules that were configured on outlook. Next I would do a get-mailbox -id username | fl and same with get-mailboxcalendarsettings | fl then try a get-mailboxpermission -id | fl then get-adpermission -id user | flDo that for each account and see if there is anything that would suggest the users have some type of relationship.SF - MCITP:EMA, MCTS: MOSS 2007, OCS 2007, Exchange 2007

I found the issue. It was a stored password that another user must have entered in this persons account. I temporarily gave the client administrative privileges and I was able to find the stored user name info when I logged in as the user (It did not show up when I was logged in any other way; even with admin privileges). Once I found and deleted the stored credentials, I removed admin privileges and was able to log in normally without the authentication problems.
