Outbound Mail to a Select group of domains - Queueing
I'm trying to send email to a friend and we're utilizing Exchange 2003. Upon doing a RBL search etc, the domain I am sending from isNOT part of those lists. I can send to other people (in other domains), just not these two domains (cox.net and aol.com). I've verified settings and the info I have is correct and it seems these two domains are the only ones I'm having issues with.Anyone have any suggestions? The greatest mistakes made, are making none at all. Hi,Whether any NDRwas received? Whether any error message come up in the queue? Which queue did the message hang?I suggest we try to telnet the remote mail server to send the testing email, and check the result.http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/153119You can also create the SMTP Connector and set the remote domain (cox.net or aol.com) as the Smarthost, then check this issue.ThanksAllen

Hi,You can use SMTPDIAG.exe to test SMTP and DNS issue. First check whether you have received NDR as told by Allen. Also do a mail trace from System Manager. How to use SMTPDIAG.exe:http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/SMTPDIAGdiagnose-Exchange-2003-SMTP-DNS.htmlhttp://4itpeople.blogspot.com/2009/01/exchange-tool-smtpdiagexe.htmlDownload SMTPDIAG.exe:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=bc1881c7-925d-4a29-bd42-71e8563c80a9&displaylang=enRegards,Tariq

Hi all. First thank you for the advise... I totally forgot about the smtpdiag and I wished I thought about it first. Upon checking into MX records and such for me to ensure everything was ok, I decided to throw a linux box into the mix to act as an internal router and smarthost/spam filter. I needed something else to take my mind off of what the issue was. By doing so, I checked my outbound queue on the linux machine and soon found the answer. Long story short...Apparently my reverse DNS is not working and to send to cox.net, you need that at least(?). The error was something along the lines of "couldn't resolve domain via rDNS" or something like that...So now I'm trying to figure out why that isnt working and I need to go through GoDaddy for it. OY!Regardless...I wanted to let you know that as being an option. Once I get that working, if I remember, I will stop by and let you and everyone else know if that was truly the issue. :)Thanks again! The greatest mistakes made, are making none at all. I wanted to let everyone know that the whole email issue was steming around no Reverse DNS. Because I actually go through Qwest, I needed to setup a PTR through Qwest and once that was done, everything fell into place. I've since then downloaded, installed and archived much of the information here offline in case I run into this again and forget about it. Thank you all for your help. The greatest mistakes made, are making none at all. I must be nearing Perfection then!
