Out of office Assistant not working for Outlook 2007
Hello everyone, I'm having an issue with Out of office assistant for Outlook 2007. It is an Exchange 2007 (on SBS 2008) environment. Out of office works in Outlook 2003, and OWA but not in Outlook 2007. Users only recently noticed this issue,
ever since Outlook cached exchange mode was disabled (not sure if this played a role).
I did find some issues with Autodiscovery not working properly. When I run an autoconfiguration test in Outlook 2007 it fails with "Autoconfiguration was unble to determine your settings!"
Also, this is the output when I run the test-outlookwebservices cmdlet from Exchange:

Do you have a certificate installed? Is it a UCC certificate with a Subject Alternative Name field?Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

There is an SSL certififcate installed, but it doesn't have the SAM field. How would I go about changing this?
Is there an alternative to changing the certificate? It seemed to work fine before (in June), and no changes were recently made to the certificate.

Hi
You need to make sure that the name matches the name included in the certificate
Autodiscover
Set-ClientAccessServer -identity server -AutodiscoverServiceExternalUri https://autodiscover.externaldomain/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml
Exchange Web Services
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "server\EWS (Default Web Site)" –ExternalUrl https://exchange.externaldomain/ews/exchange.asmx
OAB
Set-OABVirtualDirectory -Identity "Server\oab (Default Web Site)" -ExternalUrl https://exchange.externaldomain/oab

I checked the existing settings for the External URL and they appear to correspond with what you recommended for Autodiscover, Exchange Web Services, and OAB.

Hi,
For the 401 error, you can refer to the below KB to troubleshoot it:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896861
If the issue persists, please try to access
https://localhost/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml on the CAS, then inform me the result that you get.
Thanks
Allen

I've reviewed that KB article and applied the Method 1 fix (Specify host names) and restarted IIS, but it did not work. This is what I get when I try to access
https://localhost/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml on the CAS:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
- <Autodiscover xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/responseschema/2006">
- <Response>
- <Error Time="14:24:10.0002681" Id="3969361416">
<ErrorCode>600</ErrorCode>
<Message>Invalid Request</Message>
<DebugData />
</Error>
</Response>
</Autodiscover>

From my experience, that looks like what you always get when you pull up that page in a browser.
There are plenty of articles out there that will tell you how to generate a UCC certificate request and obtain a certificate. I don't want to give you specific instructions because how you do it depends on your specific requirements.

Hi,
Please check settings of Default Web Site, ensure the "Enable HTTP KeepAlives" is selected, and confirm the Basic Authentication and Integrated Windows Authentication are selected on the Autodiscover VD. Then restart IIS.
Thanks
