Out of memory

Had a sudden increase in users reporting "Out of memory" errors with Excel 32-bit. Spreadsheets aren't large at all.

Tried installing 64-bit and still got the same error message saying "Try 64-bit".

Anyone else had this? Bad patch maybe?

Any suggestions beyond machine rebuild?

Hi OffColour,

Could you tell me, did this issue appear in all Excel files? If this issue not appeared in all Excel files, was this file size large? Did the file contain many formulas or macros? What were you doing when you got this error message?

Please provide the system information about your computer and the version of your Windows system (32bit or 64bit)?

The error message >>Out of memory<< this is possible in some virtual memory systems but not the physical memory. If there are more such pages than there are pages of RAM available, then you could get an out of memory error. I suggest you refer to this article:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ericlippert/archive/2009/06/08/out-of-memory-does-not-refer-to-physical-memory.aspx

You can also refer to the KB article about your issue in Excel and try these methods and check if they work for you.

Any updates please let me know, I'm glad to help and follow up your reply.
