Out of Office does not work with Outlook Anywhere
Hi,We are using Exchange 2007 currently. Users are using Outlook 2007 as client. Outlook Anywhere is configured for those users. I am experiencing following issue with OOF...When users use Outlook 2007 within the Organization or using VPN, they can use OOF without any issues. When users connect through Outlook Anywhere, they cannot use OOF, get error "the server is curently unavailable". I did a Auto-Configuration test and it get onto the Autodiscover URL successfully. However, I do see under "Protocol: Exchange HTTP" the OOF URL is pointed to our Exchange's internal address instead of the public address. Is this the cause of my problem? If so, how can I change this URL? By set-webservicesVirtualDirectory ?Please note: We do have a valid A record for autodiscover.ourdomain.com and from auto Configuration Test, it can resovle to it successfully.

Just a bit update:I tried this command:set-webservicesVirtualDirectory -externalURL https://mail.ourdomain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmxThe problem still there, and now if I runtest-OutlookWebServicesI got an error with AS failed with this externalURL (ID: 1013 When connecting to https://mail.domain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx received the error The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.). The AS associated with internalURL shows as success.I then tried access both the internal and external URL from IE, they both asked for login. Dont understand why the internal URL worked but the external failed to login? Should I manually change the permission of EWS/Exchange.asmx

Your OOF URL should be pointed to your Exchange's public address. The Web Services are responsible for the Availability Service and OOF URL items in the Outlook 2007 configuration. You can set them up through the Web Services Virtual Directory. If you need to retrieve the information:Get-ClientAccessServer | Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory | List Server, InternalUrl, ExternalUrlTo set the URL:Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "<CAS Server name>\EWS (Default Web Site)" -ExternalURL https://webmail.yourdomain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmxConfiguring Exchange Server 2007 Web Services URLshttp://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/management-administration/configuring-exchange-server-2007-web-services-urls.htmlMCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M | Small Business Specialist

OK basically what I am using is the right... the thing just takes a bit time to kick in...Our HTTP OOF URL is now pointed to https://autodiscover.ourdomain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx OOF is working with Outlook Anywhere without VPN!!!One thing to note though, if I make the HTTP OOF URL as https://mail.ourdomain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx (the public domain name of our Exchange server) it wont work. I guess it has something to do with the default settings with Outlook 2007. It may by default set to looking for autodiscover.yourdomain.com instead of mail.... Thats just my wild guess anyway...
