Out of Office Behavior seems incorrect.....
Hi, Firstly, I hope this is the right group to post this into. If not, I really apologise but it definitely involves Exchange so is hopefully a good place to start. Okay, it's confusing. Get paper and draw this out if you can! A customer of mine has a Small Business Server (2003, Standard). They work on behalf of a number of other companies, sending emails out as though they were them. To do this they have set up alternate email accounts in Outlook that bypass the exchange server. Now for the issue... One of the staff (call him "A") has sent a message as thier customer ("B") to a contact ("C"). They CC'd "B" in. They have also BCC'd in a colleague ("D"). So the email went out avoiding thier exchange server using a different account in Outlook, pretending to be from thier customer.... 1 copy went to thier customer ("B" - Incidentally, we know they run Exchange too) 1 copy went to the contact ("C") and 1came back into thier organisation via the Exchange server, to go to "D". "D" happens to be out of the office. I would have expected the originator ("A") to be the only one to recieve the out of office, and no one else, especially as "D" was BCC'd in. However, the originator ("A") AND the customer ("B") got the Out of office message. "C" however did not get the out of office message. can anyone explain why someone gets an out of office message, when they didn't send the original, and they weren't actually aware that the other person had been included in the message as they had been BCC'd in? More importantly, can anyone shed light on how to set it so that only the originator gets the out of office message. Clearly, it's a tad confusing, and trying to phrase that into a search on T'Internet is pretty impossible! Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Martin Ford ForData Ltd

Hi, Before going on, I would like to confirm the following questions: Whether the staff A and D are belong to one company (SBS)? Customer B is A's client? Did you mean A sent the email to C, B was included in CC, D was included in BCC? And A and B received the Out Of Office from D? Thanks Allen
