Organization Name with Invalid Character
We are in the process of migrating from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2007. We currently run one Exchange server in the corporate site and then have a DC in each remote branch. The clients connect to the Exchange server through their links to corporate. I ran setup.com /preparead to get our AD prepped, but it failed with the message: The Exchange organization name is invalid. Message: Partner&Partner is not a valid value for Organization Name. The value must not contain any of '~', '`', '!', '@', '#', '$', '%', '^', '&', '*', '(', ')', '_', '+', '{', '}', '[', ']', '|', '\', ':', ';', '"', ''', '<', '>', ',', '.', '?', '/' " So, our organization name has an "&" in it. I've done some searching and from what I can find, I can change the name using LegacyDN.exe, but once the changes are written, it may cause multiple issues with the current mailbox store and crash our whole Exchange setup. Do I have any other options than LegacyDN, or am I stuck with this and all the problems that may come with it?

Never, ever use such characters in naming conventions. Correct the problem and deal with potential issues afterwards, at least your system will be compliant again.

Just did this over the weekend, had to remove a "." from our org name.NOT pretty.Lots of work. The "." has been there from initial 5.5 install all the way through upgrades to 2000 and 2003.Hit the problem when going to 2007.DO NOT use LegacyDN straight away. There is alot of work to do before this.MS support helped me with the project, but it was not fail safe.
