Opening a requested calendar in outlook causes Outlook and PC to go to non responding mode

Anyone experience this? I was able to reproduce this myself, but if you let it spin and be patient the calendar opens.

Technically whenever someone sends you their calendar for your to open, outlook goes crazy and spins and if you click anywhere outlook freezes or pc freezes if you're lucky you have to kill outlook in task manager.

Hardware acceleration is disabled in registry. Any other ideas? Only work around is to

Hi,

Does Outlook crash as soon as you click the "Open this calendar" button or while viewing the calendar?

How many shared calendars do you open in your Outlook? Please try opening only one shared calendar at a time. Too many shared folders may cause too much resource so close the shared calendar before opening another one.

Please also try unchecking "Download shared folders" in Account Settings > More settings >Advanced. It will use online mode to open the shared calendar.

In addition, we can also try start Outlook in safe mode and then test if this issue persists. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type outlook /safe and press Enter.

Please let me know the result.

Just one and it crashes after you click Open Calendar and start clicking anywhere on Outlook. I was able to reproduce this. Seems like its by design. The user was able to open the shared calendar but needed to wait awhile.

Thank you for the update.

What version of Exchange server are you using? Do you have your Outlook configured to use a MAPI over HTTP connection?

Does this issue happen when open any random shared calendar or just certain ones?

Since you didn't mention it, I'd like to confirm it here. Have you tried this step: 'Please also try unchecking "Download shared folders" in Account Settings > More settings >Advanced. It will use online mode to open the shared calendar.'? If so, please let me know the result.

Thanks for your patience.

Office 365, the CLOUD is the future. No Mapis

Did not try uncheck download shared folders, but will. The calendar actually opens after 5 mins of wait.

The issue went away, calendar opened but within 5 mins. User needed to be patient, but still this should be fixed on MS side. Next time I will try to uncheck download folder option and have them open the calendar.
