Opening Shared Calendars really slow - Exchange 2003
Hi We use Exchange enterprise 2003 and Outlook 2003. When any user tries to open any other users calendar its really slow and they are up in arms about it. We have quite some large mailboxes, but we have small ones too and there doesn't seem to be a pattern. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

Check for any errors and increase diagnostic logging. maybe you may require to defrag the db (public also). Check for events in msexchangefbpublish and normal db(public too) - might help .

That's an old issue. I dont think there is a good answer other than perhaps looking at Outlook 2007/2010 which have the ability to cached shared calendars and upgrading Exchange as well.

Please see this article which may help. Understanding the Performance Impact of High Item Counts and Restricted Views http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc535025(EXCHG.80).aspx Also remember that Exchange has to check each appointment that it shows a user if they aren't allowed to see private items and also if there are any recurring appointments within the timeframe. Each of those are very expensive operations as far as Exchange is concerned. Neill
