Open a word Document

This sounds silly, so don't shoot me, but I can't figure it out.

Scenario:  I have a word document on a thumb drive.  I have an Office 365 account from work.  I stop in at my Aunt Tilly's house for lunch, and ask if I can borrow her PC to edit the document.  She DOES NOT have any office tools online, so I fire up my browser, log into Office 365 OWA.  I stick the thumb drive into the PC, and open up Word Online version (web version).  I get the start up page with the recents and templates.

How do I navigate to the thumb drive to open the word doc there?  I cannot find a way to do it.  I guess I can copy it from my thumb drive to OneDrive, edit it, and then I have to copy it back to take it away.  How do I load it directly?

Thanks for any help!   Geoff Meissner

Hi,

Short answer: You can't. Use OneDrive as you suggested :)

Hi Geoff Meissner,

I agree with Kjetil Tonstad, we can't navigate to the thumb drive to open/edit the Office files with Office web app. And you can store the file in OneDrive or use Office online.

Hope it's helpful.
