Open 2003 word Doc, garbled code display!

Hello everyone,

 I have a 2003 word doc, open it through office 2007 in  win8.1 x64 system.Then prompt "convert file", the content: Please choose the right encode that make the doc readable. Garbled code display in preview section. Click confirm then garbled code diaplay like in preview section. Please help me.

follow these steps and see if the problem solved

  1. Open Word 2003 document in Word 2007,
  2. Click File > Prepare > Run Compatibility Checker

In case the document is corrupt then you need to follow the below steps

Step1: Click on File>> Open

Step 2: click on open and repair button while selecting the file that you want to open. [see screenshot]

thank you for your reply! I do as above, but still can' solve the problem. There is an interesting 

thing, all the doc files and JPEG files  in the U disc is the same size 3,895,536KB. This is why, what happened and how to repair my files in the U disc??

I think the files in your udisc are corrupted due to virus or some other reasons and now you need to scan them using Microsoft defender or any paid antivirus. It that not help you can try recovery tools to repair your drive.

Thank you very much! I use the Easeus data recovery tool and recovery the files from the U disc to my computer. But the office files are still garbled code. So please help me, how to do. These files are very important.
