One of the System Attendant's task is blocked: ScSaveGatewayTrackingDataEx
I recently started having a problem with one of my Exchange servers. I am running Exchange 2003 SP2 in an Active/Passive cluster on Windows Server 2003 SP2. The problem happens when I move the Exchange roles over onto my second cluster server. After about 8-10 hours I start recieving the following error in the Application log: Event Type:ErrorEvent Source:MSExchangeSAEvent Category:General Event ID:1031Date:4/7/2008Time:11:37:24 AMUser:N/AComputer: EXCH02Description:One of the System Attendant's task is blocked. Function: ScSaveGatewayTrackingDataEx For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp. This error message happens about 2 or 3 times in a row and then I see the information message several times: Event Type:InformationEvent Source:MSExchangeSAEvent Category:General Event ID:1032Date:4/7/2008Time:11:37:40 AMUser:N/AComputer:EXCH02Description:One of the System Attendant's task has recovered from a long delay. Function: ScSaveGatewayTrackingDataEx For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp. This repeats over and over again. Also when this happens the local message queue rises. When I move the roles back to my first server everything works fine. I have found somewhere that ScSaveGatewayTrackingDataEx is releated to Message Tracking. I don't see any other errors that could be related to this.

I think you are safe since you are getting Event ID 1032 for the same and recovering from a delay. MS says the same thing for any of the SA task in Exchange 2007- http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb218487(EXCHG.80).aspx

The real issue is that the messages waiting for local delivery are getting queued and not being released. This error message is the only one that appears in the event logs. The only way I can get the queue moving again is to fail over to the other machine in the cluster and this other server works without issue.
