One DC, one Exchange for different companies in different locations at country
Hello,
Company name (GBC) is planning to implement new Windows Domain Controller (DC) in a head office. The company has more than 10 different subsidiaries at the
country. Each subsidiary company has its own e-mail address. At each subsidiary of companies there will be (IT Administrator) who will be responsible to manage and maintain users, network, printer and computers through Active Directory.
Assume the name of subsidiaries companies are (b1), (b2) and (b3)…. Moreover, each company will have its own SMTP. E-mail address for Head office employees
will be (user@ho.com), and for employees at subsidiaries (user@b1.com),
(user@b2.com) and so on…
Objective:
·
One Domain Controller (DC)
·
Manage all users & computer through Head Office via one Active Directory from Head Office or partially via subsidiaries.
·
Grant required permission to IT Administrator to manage his origination via AD from remote location.
·
One Exchange Server for all (SMTPs) and manage it via Head Office or subsidiaries.
·
One Outlook Web Access (OWA) for all (SMTPs)
·
One Public Folders for all (SMTPs)
·
One Global Address List (GAL), Calendar, Dynamic Distribution Group and mail contact for all organizations (SMTPs).
·
Users and computers will be around 3000 or above
Questions:
1.
It is possible to apply this scenario?
2.
What is recommended windows server?
3.
What is the recommended Exchange server?
4.
Is it recommended to have DC in each subsidiary or one in heard office?
5.
Is there another scenario better than what I have mentioned with consideration that each company will have its own SMTP?
6.
Any supported document, white paper, tutorial will be appreciated.
Looking forward to her from you

Hi ,
On E2010 SERVER :--
1) Create a Accepted Domains for b1.com & b2.com .
2) Then Create a Email address policies for those Domain (
@b1.com & @b2.com ) with proper filter OU.
3) Checked whether all the users got the Proper Email address for respective domains ( Primary Email address).
4) Create a Send Connctor -- With * Address Space -- For OutBound
5) For Receiving mail from Internet :--
On the Default receive Connector -- Check permission on
Default <SERVER> Receive connector
and checked
Anonymous users permission
And also Create a MX Records for Respective domains (( @b1.com & @b2.com ) on External DNS server and published on the External DNS server.
Now you are ready for Mail flow.
I hope you got my point.

Hi Shafaquat,
Thank you for reply, with this configuration my understand it clear. However, do all users will have one GAL?

Hi ,
As per my knowledge Sharing a GAL between different forests is not part of the native Exchange
functionality. You would need to install the Identity Integration Feature
Pack to sync GAL's or manually export and import the GAL.

Hi Alhashim,
Since you would host all these members in one Exchange organization, all members will share one GAL.
A global address list (GAL) is a directory that contains entries for every group, user, and contact within an organization's implementation of Microsoft Exchange
Server
