OneNote This page is not yet available

I've struggled with this on a few occasions and it's back again.

I changed the location of where ON saves my files and the next thing I know, some of the pages are not recognized and I get the following message.

This page is not yet available

This page was added from another computer.

It will become available if that computer connects and syncs

I don't sync, because I only have my files on my computer or external drive.

This seems to be a cache issue and what I've done before is to take one of my backups, change the name and then reopen the file and it has worked sometimes.  But not now.  I've got 2 section folders, each with about 10 tabs that the tab color is white and it's not opening those tabs.  What's strange is that some of the tabs in the section folder are viewable.

Unlike Word, an issue with the cache on ON can result in loss of data.  it's not just having the file and therefore being able to open it.

Are there any ideas on how to gain access to these tabs?  I don't want to play around with the entire cache for fear I can create more problems with other pages.

I've got lots of backups.  that's not the problem.  the problem is being able to view

Hi

According to my research, we can follow the steps to troubleshoot the issue.

We may start it with the /safeboot switch. Start | Run | Onenote /safeboot.

OneNote will start and present you with a couple of troubleshooting options.  One of these options is to clear the OneNote cache (see below) and the other is to clear the customized user settings, which basically resets OneNote back to the default.

Sometimes the cache can get corrupted and the best way to troubleshoot it is to delete it.  Assuming all of the changes you have made have already been committed to the data file deleting the cache will not lose any data - but if you're at the point where you're deleting the cache file you're probably fairly desperate anyhow so a little bit of data loss may be an acceptable price to pay to get the application back on its feet.

The cache file is typically found in the:C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\14.0 folder if you're running Vista or the C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\application data\local\Microsoft\OneNote\14.0 folder (whether 14.0 folder depends on your version of Office) . With OneNote closed, using Windows Explorer go to that folder, find the OneNoteOfflineCache.onecache file and either rename it, move it or delete it.  I usually recommend renaming it so that if this fix doesn't work and you decide you want to you can always rename it back.

Hope it helps
