OneNote 2010--Outlines randomly uncollapse

I use OneNote extensively, so I've noticed the curious fact over time that outlined sections in a given page which I've collapsed will randomly, when opening that page up at some point in the future, be open again. (It's possible that open sections randomly collapse too, but this would be much less noticeable to me so I'm not sure on this point.)

When these sections do mysteriously uncollapse, it's not a case of every single collapsed section in the page being open or anything, only a few individual sections.

Again, it's hard to specifically replicate this in the moment, but it does occur fairly frequently (enough to be annoying!) and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this behavior or if anyone had any ideas how to stop it from happening. Thanks!

Hi,

OneNote 2010 is always syncing with the account that you logged on in OneNote.

Collapsing and expanding the outline are just local operations, they wont trigger the sync to the server.

If you want to keep collapsed status of the outline, just collapse the outline, and then add a space to the section. Or you can just press Enter or something wont make any big difference to your sections.

Now, the outline will keep collapsed when you open the page next time.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Steve. That makes sense, though I haven't actually run a test to see whether it works in my case to 'save' the collapsed state by putting an enter or space somewhere on the same page. We'll see what develops.
