Old Read Recipts Sent

I have a user on Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2013 who went on holiday in April 2014

While he was away 11 emails were sent from his mailbox at 05:34 on a Sunday with subject marked "Not read: ...."

All the emails were 2 or 3 years old. So no automatic deletion policy would have run on that time range

Also the emails are in different folders and there are multiple recipients

What would have triggered these read receipt notifications to be sent?

Hi,

Maybe there's something stuck in his Outbox.

Please use MFCMAPI to look in the Outbox to check if there is anything stuck there and clean it.

You can download MFCMAPI from this link:

Hi

There is nothing in his Outbox, he was migrated from E2007 to E2013 a few weeks ago so his mailbox is pretty healthy

Normally mail deletions would trigger these notifications to be sent, but could Server OLM cleanup tasks cause this?

(retention policies are for 7 years, much older than the messages in question)

Thanks
