If you found the file put it in place and attempt to mount the DB and then report what happensRunning /p will repair the DB but will also cause some data loss so i would not do that just yet and before you do anything like that you need a flat file copy of the database itself. How did this problem start?Troy Werelius www.Lucid8.com Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline EDB's and Live Exchange Servers with Lucid8's DigiScope
If you found the file put it in place and attempt to mount the DB and then report what happens
I found the file in the folder where is should be, should I still just try and mount the DB? I'm making a copy of the log folder it looks like it could take some time. I'm not sure how it happened, I have been having issues with a DC that has multihomed nics and I was working on that this morning. I that might cause dns issues but the exchange server is in a different building. Also the exchange sever is not pointing to that sever as dns.

1. if the file is in its original place then that is not the issue. 2. When you copy the logs ensure you copy the Database as well 3. What error are you getting when you attempt to mount the DB 4. If you made changes to the DC and DNS then that could be the issue you are facing so i would look closely at your event logs to see what is happening with the exchange server, i.e. A: ensure that your Exchange server has contact with the DC and can resolve via DNS B: Are all the services that are set to automatic running? if not try to start them and chase down and correct any errors that occur C: if all the services are running then try to mount the DB and note the error on screen as well as in the event logs which should tell us more of whats going on I am going to lunch but will return and check up on youTroy Werelius www.Lucid8.com Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline EDB's and Live Exchange Servers with Lucid8's DigiScope

I moved the .check point file and clicked on mount database but nothing happened. So I did it again and it flashed 2 processes in progress and now it appears to be doing nothing again. But I think if I do it again it will flash 3 processes in progress. Maybe it takes a while.

yes we are up to MSExchangeIS (12828) First Storage Group: The database engine has begun replaying logfile O:\data\exchange data\E000000B8B1.log. But there is also this Exchange ActiveSync has encountered repeated failures when it tries to access data on Mailbox server [town-hbwj29zoqc.TOM]. Exchange ActiveSync will temporarily stop making Exchange ActiveSync requests to the Mailbox server. The process will be postponed for [60] seconds. This may be caused if the Mailbox server is overloaded. If this event is frequently logged, review the Application log for other events that could indicate the root cause of performance problems on the Mailbox server specified in the event description.
June 19th, 2012 6:12pm

ActiveSync is nothing to worry about at the moment since that activity is irrelevant unless the database is up. just let the logs play and hopefully when done the DB will be mountedTroy Werelius www.Lucid8.com Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline EDB's and Live Exchange Servers with Lucid8's DigiScope

Well at this point it would appear that there is a problem with that log file so I would think the only choice you would have it to allow it to skip the logs and potentially lose some data. 1. What is the date of the file in question? 2. BTW for anyone reading this with the same issue. I moved the log files out of the folder where the database edb file is to a new folder I called backupfiles . Only after I successfully mounted to database did I actually delete the moved files in the backupfiles folder. Just in case I still needed the files for some reason which I did not.
