Offline Files in sync center goes offline whenever i file that is a office, wordpad, paint

I have been having problems with files getting conflicts. After looking at a few different things I saw every time I open a file that was a office program the offline files sync center will disconnect. If I open a file in notepad and other programs it stays connected.

So if you open a file and make a quick change and then save it, it will sometimes give you a conflict because its still disconnected. Now if you open a file wait a few minutes till the offline sync comes back online then save the file it will NOT cause any conflicts.

We are also using windows folder replication on the desktop and my documents.

Any ideas on what could be causing the sync center to go offline when you open a office program but then it reconnects a few minutes later?

UPDATE: It looks like it does it using more then just office programs. It also does it when I open a file using WordPad and paint. However when I use notepad it doesn't make the offline sync show disconnected.

Hi travis77,

Based on your description, could you tell me if these office files are used by several users and they can edit these files? You said the file getting conflicts and its only appeared in office files.

A sync conflict occurs when Sync Center can't reconcile differences between a file stored in one location and a version of the same file in another location, thereby stopping sync from being completed. This usually happens when a file has changed in both locations since its last sync, making it difficult to determine which changes to save.

In office program, when user 1 created a file and stored in a share location the user name of this file is user 1. But if user 2 edited this file and saved it, the user name changed to user 2. This is particular in office program, and this might be one of the reason for your issue.

There is a similar issue, we didnt get a correct answer for this issue but the discussion in that issue is useful as a reference.

Thank you for the information. I will post over there next. I will just update this one incase someone can help in this forum with this updated information.

No one else would change the files. These files are only used by the end user. The link below is one example of what the conflict looks like.
As you can see they have the same last modified date and time and the size is the same. This is why I don't understand why its giving me a conflict.

About the temp file, I set my temp location to the network drive and the offline files still changes the status to disconnected when I open any office program, wordpad and paint.  So its not just office programs. But when I open notepad it DOES NOT make the offline sync center show disconnected. So what is different from notepad and the other programs?
