Hi,
By "No errors reported", have you checked the Event Viewer? There may be error about this issue, it would be helpful to determine the cause if you could share the error logs with us.
To open the Event Viewer, press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter.
Expand Windows Logs -> Application, check if there's any error about the freeze issue, send the related information to our email address so that I can help find the possible cause:
Anyway, please let me know the virtual desktop's System Information as well, press Win + R, type "msinfo32" in the blank box, press Enter, you can send the information to the email address above. This is because comparing to previous versions of Office, Office 2013 now has a higher System requirement, we may find it runs slow or laggy in some old computers - it's actually normal if the virtual desktop environment doesn't meet the system requirement. Especially if there's no evident error message.
