Office 365 Update folder on network share

In June, I deployed Office 365 to about 55 users using a configuration.xml file that configured the clients to look to an internal network share for updates (\\serverFQDN\Share\Office365\Updates)

I've downloaded the latest version of Office 365 and have the (2) .cab files plus the folder 15.0.xx.xxxx ..... I've placed these files in the Updates folder, yet none of my clients are updated to the latest version.

I've also tried copying these updated source files into a "Data" folder and placed them in the Updates folder, as this page sorta/kinda implies: http://community.office365.com/en-us/blogs/office_365_community_blog/archive/2013/03/06/office-365-proplus-administrator-series-client-deployment-options.aspx

I've watched the "Garage series" video enough times... Please don't refer me to that.

If anyone has successfully updated their clients from a local share, please tell me the secret.  OR, if there is a way to enable verbose logging on the clients so I can see why they aren't getting updated, I'd appreciate that information as well.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Hi,

Did you want to deploy the whole Office 365 Programs or only the update?

As far as I know, the update had be ntegration to Windows update.Next,I had read the blog which you provided.

Could you tell me which step you had done and filed?

Did you use Office 365 ProPlus with the Office Deployment Tool?

Here are more information about the tool and deploy method:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg998766.aspx

At last, if you could upload the verbose logging when you are free ,I can do deeply research.

George,

Thanks for the reply.  Click-to-run installations of Office 365 do not use WSUS or Windows Update.

I used the ODT with the /download command line to download the initial set of files in June.  I placed these in a network share (\\serverFQDN\Share\Office365).

I then created an .xml file for the installation of Office 365 on my client workstations from this location.  The .xml file specified that updates were to be enabled and that the path they should use for updates was \\serverFQDN\Share\Office365\Updates.

Just this past week, I re-ran the ODT with the /download parameter to get the latest version of the source files.  Indeed, the folder name is a larger number than my current installation.

I've placed the updated .cab files (there are 2) as well as the 15.0.xx.xxxx folder containing the largest file into the Updates folder.

My clients, however, are not updating.

I have no idea how to turn on verbose logging for the scheduled task that causes the clients to check for updates.  This doesn't appear to be published anywhere.

Thanks

Mark

Hi,

I suggest to use Office 365 deployment tools(ODT),it'll tell you How Office 365 ProPlus is updated after it is installed  for example, automatically from a location on your network.

Please do the steps with following link to do all configuration options:

Hello,

I realize this is an old post but I'm having the exact problem and I'm wondering how you ended up solving it.  I installed using the ODT, edited the .xml file to point the clients to an internal share for updates, added the latest update to that share, but the clients aren't updating. Any insights you can offer would be appreciated.

Tom,

Same problem here.  Were you able to get this resolved?

Mine was a ClickToRun install.
