Office 365 Shared Mailbox prompting for Password

Hello,

We have setup a shared mailbox for one of our clients which works fine.

But one of the users has his mailbox setup at another organisation which has full access to this shared mailbox. The other organisation has Exchange Server 2010 hosted internally.

I've gone through this thread here but found no answer.  https :// community.office365.com/en-us/f/158/t/275312

(Company A) User1 xyz @ xyz.com > Full access to shared @ xyz.com (No password prompt)

(Company B) User1 xyz @ xyz.com > Outlook prompting for password for 'shared @ xyz .com' (Internal Hosted Exchange 2010

I've tried to enter in his Office 365 Details but still prompts for it.

Any ideas ? Thanks

You've posted in an Exchange 2013 forum.  Is this access to Office 365?

Hi Ed,

Yes, they're on Office 365 Exchange E1

I just don't think that's going to work.  You can't log on to a shared mailbox directly, you must log on to a mailbox in the same organization, which establishes your credentials, and then open the shared mailbox as an additional mailbox.

Hi Wiolliam,

Thank you for your question.

Are the company A and the company B in on-premise or office 365?

With the sentence I've tried to enter in his Office 365 Details but still prompts for it, what is about office 365 details?

Did the company A and company B belong to same domain?

Why the user1 has xyz@xyz.com in company and the same account in domain B?

By my understanding, if there are Exchange on-premise we could rebuild the profile and rename the OST file on client in company B to check if the issue persist.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the reply.

He has full access to the "Shared Mailbox" (or in the Office 365 Admin Centre) it is called  "Meeting Rooms" - It is used to book Calender entries etc

When his at his computer at site 1 which has no hosted exchange, it does not ask for his password. We simply just add the Calender.

Although at site 2, he would like his Email account also loaded on his computer. Although at Site 2, there is MS Exchange 2010 hosted at this site which we also control.

His email account was always setup at site 2, though when we created the "Meeting Room" Mailbox or 'Shared Mailbox' it asks him for the password or credentials for the "Meeting Room" Mailbox or 'Shared Mailbox' we created. These Mailbox's don't have passwords.

Company A does work with Company B

Company B has hosted Exchange 2010 internally.

This user is a director of both companies. His setting up Company A mail account (Cloud Hosted Exchange) on his computer at Company B (Internally hosted exchange 2010)

I believe he needs two profiles, one for the on-premises Exchange, and the other for a mailbox in Office 365 that also opens the shared mailbox.

boardroom @ <contoso> does not have a password. Its a "meeting room" account or so called shared mailbox.

These accounts do not have passwords. All you do is create the account, assign who has access and that it.

At Company A, it works fine with no credentials to input. He has this email setup at 3 different location.

At Company B, it pops up to enter credentials. (On-Premise Exchange)

At Home (Example) email account is setup with no pop-ups to enter credentials.

Please let me know i'm not explaining me self properly.
