Office 365 ProPlus not updating despite automatic updates being on.

In my office I have 16 computers with Office 365 ProPlus installed.  They all have automatic updates turned on in Office Account settings.  I was reviewing the software inventory and noticed that five of these are still on version 15.0.4481.1510, despite 15.0.4505.1006 having been released over three months ago.

When I go into the Office Account settings, it states that there are updates ready to be installed if you press the "Apply Updates" button, but according to the "About Updates" button:

"Updates to this Office product are enabled by default and are downloaded through your Internet connection and installed automatically."

What's going on?

Was it a click to run install?

Hi obrienw,

We have been having the same problem. Did you manage to resolve the issue somehow?

Yes, they're all Click-to-Run installs.

Office 365 desktop setup uses the Windows Installer service to download installation packages (also known as MSI files) for installing updates. Office 365 desktop setup may fail to download future patches and updates if the Automatically Detect Settings option is not selected in your Internet Explorer settings.

To enable automatic setting detection
  1.

In your browser, click Tools, and then click Internet options.

  2. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.

  3. In the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings dialog box, select the Automatically detect settings check box, and then click OK.

If you continue to experience problems with updates not downloading, you may need to update your proxy server address. To do this, in the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings dialog box, under Proxy server, select Use a proxy server for your LAN, and then write in a valid proxy server address (you can get this from your administrator).

I've verified that the computers were already configured that way.  I've also noticed that the rest of the computers still have 15.0.4505.1510 and haven't updated to 15.0.4517.1005.

At this point of time looking at criticality of the issue faced by you I would suggest you to open phone support case with Microsoft as there are lots of troubleshooting and reading various logs required which is not possible via this Forum.

You can always contact Microsoft Customer Central on 1-800-936-4900 and create a phone support case. Alternatively you can always visit http://support.microsoft.com/oas to create phone support case.

Hope this helps

Updates to Office 365 are run via the task scheduler process.

You can find it in the library under Microsoft->Office

The task is called Office Automatic Updates and the Last Run result should tell you if it is working or not.
