Office 2013 updates clogging up disk space

Hi,

I am trying to free up as much disk space as possible and I have found the disk space used up after installing and updating Office 2013 going through the roof.

Particularly

C:\Windows\Installer (5.1 GB)
C:\Windows\WinSxS (3,5 GB)

The installation is MSI based not click and run.

The issue seems to be that the old replaced files are still retained somewhere. I can still go to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features\Installed Updates and see an uninstall option for each and every Office 2013 update (but not for i.e. Windows updates)

I have tried the usual disk cleanup measures, including cleanmgr and even some not so usual things (dism /online /cleanup-image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase)

Please help me get rid of the uninstall office updates options.

The only concern is that you need more space on C: disk, so you want to clear the C:\Windows\Installer and
C:\Windows\WinSxS folder?

Not sure about "C:\Windows\Installer (5.1 GB)", but it's not suggested to clear C:\Windows\WinSxS folder:

According to my knowledge, the updates file are released after installing, so there is nothing left to concern you I suppose.

The concern is disk space occupied by Office 2013 or more to the point, its updates. The folders mentioned are just a guess because they seem bloated. This in conjunction with preparing an image for deployment.

If the Office update files are released, why can I still uninstall them?

When the Windows update files are released, I cannot uninstall the updates anymore.

Hi,

The original update installation packages are released after the installation.

By the way, regarding cleaning up the disk, I hope this article can be helpful to you:

What about the location C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download.

This folder is almost empty: 12 files, 18 folders, 33.4 MiB

Office 2013 backup update files have got to be someplace else.
