Office 2013 experiencing error to open 2003 documents

Hi

i changed pc of a user who was formerly using office 2007 to a pc with windows 8x64 +  office 2013 home and business.

however he can not open any word/excel 2003 documents and message received is as follows:

Microsoft Word
Word experienced an error trying to open the file.
Try these suggestions.
* Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
* Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.
* Open the file with the Text Recovery converter.
 (Z:\...\Lettre de dsistement - IBL.doc)
P1: 200494
P2: 15.0.4433.1506
P3: 5aeyP4: 0x80070002

i tried opened it via the local administrator credentials but still same issue. The permissions are set to everyone w/r but same issue. There is loads of GB free and there are 4gb mem ram.

i sent one of the said document to another person via mail and opened it on his office 2013 h & b, it opened. I save it as docx file format and sent back to user having issue and he can open it.?

is there any patch to apply as i cant figure out where the issue is.

Hi

Follow these steps to see if it helps:

First, right-click the Word file that you have problems with, and click "Property".

Click "Unblock", when done, click "OK". (Note: a properly-working Word file does not have an "Unblock" button displayed).

If the issue persists, go to "File", and click "Options". Click "Trust Center", and then click "Trust Center Settings".

Next, click "Trusted Locations", and click "Add new location". Select the folder where you have just moved your files to; when done, click "OK" and then click "OK" again.

In addition, we recommend you do a repair for your Office in Control panel>Program and features>Office 2013>Change>Repair
