Office 2013 docs opening as readonly is opened through SharePoint

Hi,

We just upgraded to Office 2013. Since the upgrade some users are unable to edit Office documents that they open through SharePoint. I can see that the documents are opened as read only. Even if they select to edit the document in SharePoint it throws up an alert saying that they don't have permissions to edit the document.

I checked all permissions and they appear to be OK. Is there any setting in Office 2013 that is maybe defaulted to read only or something?

Regards
Paul

P.S. the SharePoint version is WSS 3.0.

Hi,

Check the article here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2295835

And I would suggest to manage the stored passwords and certificates on the user's clients as per:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/manage-stored-passwords-certificates-and-other-credentials

Thanks Rex. I'll take a look at that.

I have noticed that when I open a document I am prompted with the below dialog:

My affected user doesn't get this. His document just opens as read only.

Hi,

I'm still having problems with this.

I found that the first time I open SharePoint and click the document link I am prompted with the Open Document dialog. If I then click on any other document I get a dialog asking if I want to open or save my document.

I did quite a bit of research online and found common fixes for this are as follows:

1. Ensure Explorer and Office 2013 are 32 bit. I have this

2. Ensure SharePoint classes are in enabled in IE add ons(SharePoint Stssync and SharePoint OpenDocuments Class are enabled but I do not have SharePoint Spreadsheet Launcher or SharePoint Export Database Launcher).

3. Re-register OWSSUPP.DLL. I did this.

Unfortunately I am still faced with the issue. At this point it may be that I am missing two add ons but I don't know how to get them. How to do this and any other advice that may help resolve my issue would be welcomed.

Cheers

Paul

Sorted.

I identified that the issue seemed to revolve around the IE add on 'SharePoint OpenDocument class'. This relates to Office15\OWSSUPP.DLL. After several failed attempts to re-register this I installed the SharePoint services for Office 2010. This caused the add on to pick up the Office14\OWSSUPP.DLL.
