Office 2013 Word - Not Responding - How do you Remove add-ins - this appears to be the issue - compatibility
I installed Office 2013 and Word doesn't work. When it opened for the first time it took awhile and it installed some add-ins. I believe those add-ins are not compatible. How do I access the add-ins that are installed in Word? Prior Office product uninstalled was Office Pro 2010. There is a 2013 version of Microsoft Project also installed. Any suggestions to rectify Word - not responding.

Thank you Steve for your response. I will keep that information handy if I run into additional issues. I discovered by right-clicking on the Word Icon on the taskbar I could access the properties window. There I saw that the wrong version of Windows was selected for Word. I selected the correct Windows version which was 7 and it resolved the compatibility problem.

Hi,

We may first try starting Word using the /a switch to check if this issue is with an add-in. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type winword.exe /a and press Enter.

If Word start without problem using /a switch, we may try to disable the Startup folder add-ins and COM add-ins to troubleshoot the issue. You can refer to this KB link for detailed steps. Look at the Disable the Startup folder add-ins and Disable the COM add-ins registry keys sections.

Please let me know the result.

Steve, the problem seems to be that

1)  Running winword.exe /a didn't fix it, and

2) OffCAT does not say that it works with Windows 10.

Does OffCAT run in Windows 10?
