Hi,
Do you use KMS or MAK to activate Office?
I suggest you use the System File Checker to run the sfc /scannow command to scan all protected system files and replace the incorrect versions with the correct Microsoft versions. This has resolved some similar issues before.
For a Windows 7 PC
- Click Start > All Programs > Accessories, and then right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.
- In the command prompt, type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
- When the system scan is complete, try to install Office again.
For a Windows 8 PC
- Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.) - Enter command prompt in the search box.
- In the list of results, swipe down on or right-click Command Prompt, and then tap or click Run as administrator.
- In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type sfc /scannow press Enter.
- When the system scan is complete, try to install Office again.

Melon, Thanks for the response.
I forgot to state that my computers are not connected to the internet so I use MAK over the telephone to activate. Would maybe a windows update or intel driver update cause this problem?
Should I run the "sfc /scannow" and try to reinstall office right after? Or should I do an uninstall of office, run "sfc /scannow" and then install office?
Thanks
Melon,
I just tried the "sfc /scannow" and when I tried to install office, one of the options was "repair", I did that and still get product activation failed. And when I try to activate over telephone, same result. Step 2 has nothing there for installation id, and confirmation id in step 3 is still greyed out.
Any other ideas? thanks
Here is what it looks like when I do a "cscript ospp.vbs /dstatusall
c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14>cscript ospp.vbs /dstatusall

Hi,
Based on the description above, I'm now thinking if this could be related to the MAK key status, please contact the Volume Licensing Service Center to ask if the MAK key is a valid one and let me know the result:
