Office 2010 Service Pack update

Hi. I'm trying to install Office 2010 and I've downloaded it from VLS Center.

Strangely enough there's no version with SP2 included in 32-bit (which apparently is recommended on the site when you try and download it), so I've downloaded the version with SP1 included instead and downloaded the SP2 from microsoft.com.

After extracting the ISO I discovered msp files in the updates folder all named something with sp1 so I'm guessing since I want to install SP2 instead that I can safely empy the Updates folder and extract the SP2 content into that folder and I'm ready to go?

Edit: Do I need the .xml files too or just the msp files? (from the extracted sp2 file)

Hi,

Please refer to this kb below:

Description of Office 2010 Service Pack 2

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for installing this update. You do not have to have Office 2010 SP1 installed to install Office 2010 SP2.

Based on the description, you don't need SP1 to install Office SP2, so clearing the SP1 stuff in the folder should be fine.

For the second question, please copy all the files from the \Office2010\SP2\extract\ to the Updates folder.

Sorry for the long delay.

I finally got it working and it was as suspected and as you said.

Replacing the files from the update folder and extracting all the files from the sp2 into the update folder worked as suspected.

Thank you.
