Office 2010 Proofing Tools - Language appears as not installed

Hi everyone,

let me start by saying that I have searched throughout Google and especially these forums and still haven't found a solution to my problem. We have purchased (at work) 7 new PCs with Windows 7 (64-bit) Office 2010 AND Proofing Tools already installed. To cut a long story short, I've gone through the Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs and added the Greek Language (Run From my Computer). After that completes successfully, when I go in the Office 2010 Language Preferences the Greek Language Proofing Tools still show up as Not Installed.

I've tried all the suggestions in the forum (Registry tweaks, Control Panel) but nothing works. I have seen other users with this issue in various forums and I would really appreciate if anyone can provide any suggestions on it.

Thank you very much for your time.

Andrew,

I know this post is old, but it's unanswered. According to Office help and how to, if you selected an Editing Language in the Set the Office Language Preferences dialog box, but haven't enabled the keyboard layout or installed the proofing tools for that language, you might see either the Not enabled or Not installed.

Review this page to see if you get it fixed. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/what-does-not-enabled-or-not-installed-mean-HA010352576.aspx.

Good luck, and mark as answer if it helps.

Hi,

I installed English US from the beginning.

Now I have been trying to add Swedish and Italian for quite some time - without any success.

Even though all three languages are set as "Keyboard Layout Enabled".

I can also see that the Microsoft Office Proofing Tools 2013 (Svenska / Italiano) are installed under Control Panel / Programs and Features.

What else can I try? Please help!

Best regards,

Sara

Same problem here. I've just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1, so I had to reinstall all of my software, including Office 2010 English language with added Italian proofing tools. Of course, when I reistalled, my Italian proofing tools were gone. I clicked on the link found under the options\language menu ("not installed") and downloaded "Italian Proofing Tools 2013", which installed correctly (they show up in my Installed Programs). Unfortunately, Word still won't recognise the Italian proofing tools, even though I've followed all of the previous instructions (keyboard layout enabled etc.). Can you kindly provide help? It worked perfectly under Windows 7. I'd like to clarify that I don't need the whole Language Pack, just the Proofing Tools.

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem, and even after installing for the tenth time, I couldn't get it to work... Untill I started reading the webpage my Office app was directing me to.

I'm using Office 2010 and when going to File -> Options -> Language, I saw the text "Not installed" behind my preferred language (Dutch) where the text was linkable. Ofcourse I was following the link and got instruction to download an installer for the 32 of 64 bit version. But I didn't work... Because the link brings you to the Office 2013 downloader.

Probably this is why it wasn't working. After searching the web for specific 2010 installation instructions, I found a page (in Dutch) with a direct link to the dutch 2010 proofing pack... I downloaded it, installed it and voil it showed "Installed" the next time I restarted Word.

Maybe most of you are using 2013, but for the people using 2010 and also being redirected to the 2013 page... Try Googling for you language with the 2010 addition.
