Office 2010 License Pack on KMS

Hi,

I have just built a new KMS Host server on Windows Server 2012 R2 and it seems to be activating Windows OSes just fine.

However, I've added the Office2010 and Office2013 KMS Host license packs to the server and I'm not sure they're working correctly. When running the correct slmgr /dlv command for each product, it reports that it is licensed, but shows both the 'Remaining App rearm count' and 'Remaining SKU rearm count' as '-1'. This doesn't look right? Why is it showing that and what can I do to put it right?

Hi

For your issue, we would recommend you see the following blog:

To resolve the problem, we might download and install the appropriate hotfix from the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article:

Here is more information for your reference to troubleshoot Key Management Service:

Thanks for the reply - but that's a different issue. The article you point to is for an issue with hosts running on OS less than Server 2012 R2 - but as stated, that is exactly what I am running.

Also, the example shown shows the license status as: 'OBB_GRACE'. Mine does show correctly as 'Licensed' - it's just the rearm count showing as '-1' that is a little odd and worries me.

Here's the relevant sections from the result when I do a script slmgr.vbs /dlv all

I've taken out all the IDs, but they are there OK.

Hmm, they are new elements (I haven't yet installed that update on my KMShost), am about to do so.

I'd say that those elements are part of the new/updated SPPSVC, and not relevant to an OfficeKMShost scenario, so safe to ignore them for Office.
(just an guess).

Your current_count is still below threshold (5), so see what happens when you get to (5) ?
(it may just be something we need to ignore?)

I just passed the activation threshold and both rearm counts are still showing as '-1'  :-(

Can I ask how you got the Office 2010 KMS Host onto 2012 R2?

When I run the installer from the VLSC, it says "unsupported operating system"

Are you also still showing -1? just curious as I'm looking at upgrading to 2012 R2

EDIT:

Found a machine to just chuck them on. Got 2010 KMS running and activated, threw 30 office 2010 installs at the new KMS service on the 2012 R2 test machine.

Hi Phil,

I was just on the point of replying to your original comment.

Glad to see you seem to have got it working.

And you have the same 'weird' rearm counts as me. Nice to know I'm not alone. :-)

Wonder what it means...??

Same "weird" rearm counts here:

Volume License for Windows Server 2012 R2 isn't having this "issue":

Is the server virtualized? Did you deploy it from a template?

I have exactly the same Issue here.

It activates Windows OSes fine.

Office says Licenced but both counts are -1.

I have 10 Machines waiting for the activation.

@kabauterman88, when to do cscript slmgr.vbs /dli all
what is the current_count showing for the Office KMS component?
(current_count is what matters for Office activations...)
