Office 2010 Install hangs on Win7

I installed Win7 Ultimate, then installed XP mode.  I installed Office 2007 in the XP Mode virtual machine.

Afterwards, I tried installing Office 2010 on Win7.  I downloaded ProfessionalPlus.exe (32bit and 64bit).  I launched the .exe file which then extracted the files.  It appears to launch the setup program but nothing happens.  Office 2010 Beta shows "running" in task manager.

FYI, my PC is dual-booted with Win7 and W2k8.  I launched the same .exe file under W2k8 and it installed fine.

How can I install Office 2010 on Win7?

Hi,

Do you get any error messages while installing?

Is there any other version of Office already installed on your Win7 PC?

This information could be helpfull. Anyways you could try installing office by completely disabling your Antivirus software.

Go to this link to check system requirements for Office 2010.

Thx for responding Jennifer.  No, there are no error messages.  That is what is so strange.   There are no other Office apps installed from what I can see.   I tried disabling the antivirus software and installing Office 2010. Same result.

Is there a way I can check the registry to make sure that all prior versions of Office have been completed un-installed?

Hi,

If you want to make sure if you still have prior versions of Office not completed uninstalled, I suggest you download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from the link below:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/9/D/E9D80355-7AB4-45B8-80E8-983A48D5E1BD/msicuu2.exe

After you install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, click Start  -> All Programs -> Windows Install Clean Up to see if there is any office installation and if so you can remove it.

Also you can check registry under the following path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office

For anyone still having this issue, try an End Task on spoolsv.exe or spools.exe - a services that runs your printer. That worked for me right away!
