OWA times out
Hello From my understanding OWA sessions are supposed to last 15 minutes on the public setting and 24 hours on the private setting. Since our upgrade to SP2 our OWA sessions have been errant lasting only 5 minutes and sometimes timing out in the middle of composing an email message even under the private setting. Just wondering what kind of troubleshooting I can try on the server side, I've already tested IE8, IE7, Chrome and firefox to test browser settings and the behaviour is consistent (the times are not, but I am definately not getting 24 hours under private, lucky if I see 10 minutes before it times out) Thanks Bryan

Hi Bryan, Which verion of Exchange server do you use? Exchange 2003 or 2007? Does this occur when you both in LAN and Internet? Do you have ISA server? You can also configurate time out in ISA server.Frank Wang

Hi Frank I thought it might be ISA server as well, but it happens both internally (lan) and externally (internet). We have exchange 2007 SP2. This seems to have started when we upgraded to SP2, at least that's when users started reporting it. Where is the timeout settings in ISA, I will try that as well to see if that is a symptom. Thanks

Is there anything else I can try though, it times out both inside and outside our network, it didn't do this before we did the SP2 upgrade.

Hi, Did you manually set the time out value as Technet article said: How to Set the Forms-Based Authentication Public Computer Cookie Time-Out Value http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124787(EXCHG.80).aspx How to Set the Forms-Based Authentication Private Computer Cookie Time-Out Value http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124819(EXCHG.80).aspx Please check. Were you ever able to solve the problem? We are having a similiar problem on an Exchange 2010 setup. We believe the issue may be related to our Load Balancer but I found this article and wanted to see what your solution/problem actually was. - Brandon
