OWA stopped working default website site wont start
All, the default web site in IIS 7 that OWA uses cannot start (has a question mark next to it, sure that isn't right?) dialog says 'this website cannot be started, another website may be using the same port' what website? i havent touched anything and was fine 2 days ago, i have tried stopping all other local sites in IIS first and still no difference, no other local site uses port 443 in bindings anyway, any ideas? when i do a netstat -ao i get process ID of 4 for port listener 443, when i use the process explorer tool it just says that PID4 is being used by 'system' when i try and kill the process I get a blue screen of death please help

Hi, What version is Exchange? Is the Exchange server on a member or DC? What level is the Exchange i.e. SP or RU?

Hello, Yes you were right, I checked the binding settings in the default website and there was an additional binding mapped to port 443 but not assigend to anything. How do you think it got there? The only configuration I had done to the server in the last few days was to install the remote desktop services role, however this role is not fully setup yet or working. Lastly i still have a question mark against the default website, should I be concerned with this? many thanks

This is usual when we have a conflict of Ports on the Bindings. This problem occurs when this websites http(or other protocol) have been declared with no value or duplicate value. If there are two binding to any port. Remove the one where the IP Address is empty. Let me know in case if we are able to start the Default Website after removing the Duplicate ? refresh the IIS Manager and highlight the Default Website and check on the right hand side of the IIS Manager if we have Start option or Stop option. ______________________________________________________ PaVaN ~ ( Exchange Support | 2003/2007/2010) ~Mark this if Helpful

Please verify the IIS log for detailed error code. If the issue continues, you might need to reset /OWA virtual directory. Fiona Liao TechNet Community Support
