OWA redirects to old Exchange Server 2007
It seems that when I go to https://mail.company.com/owa from within the organization, it launches OWA (Exchange Server 2013) just fine, and I'm able to authenticate through to get my mailbox.  However, when I am outside the organization, and I go to the same OWA URL, I get the webmail login page for the old mail server (SBS 2008/Exchange Server 2007).  Can anyone assist me with this?  Thank you.

This is what I would do:

  1. Add a new external ip for your legacy namespace (remember 2013 > 2007 OWA is a complete redirect not a proxy).
  2. Create a NAT rule on your firewall to NAT the External IP of your legacy namespace and point it to your 2007 CAS Server.
  3. Change the NAT rule for the external IP of mail.company.com and point that to your 2013 servers.

You can just create a new IP for Exchange 2013 and change the DNS records instead of the NAT rules, but changing DNS records usually take forever to get propagated throughout the world, so if you have the ability to manage your own firewall, the NAT rule change happens practically immediately.

Hi Fernando,

Thank you for your question.

I agree with Hintes. because the availability service requests will also be redirected. we do need a legacy namespace for EWS connection back to Exchange 2007

In addition, we need to add the SSL certificate of the legacy server.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim
