OWA issue with lang.owa and exchange 2007
I am trying to use owa with exchange 2007 running on windows 2003 IIS 6 Some users can log in fine, however some users are prompted with a dialog requesting their language preference and when they select english they are given an error that the server can't find lang.owa Can someone please let me know what setting is causing this or what I can do. BTW I have search the server and lang.owa is no where to be found. Is there a reason this wouldn't be installed? Thanks a ton.

Hi, This issue occurs when the msExchVersion attribute is not set correctly on the user object in the Active Directory. Now please refer to the following link to resolve this issue. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;941146 Thanks Allen

I appreciate your response however the Exchange versions where set correctly for these users. I am thinking the problem might be I don't have a lang.owa file. Is there a place I can download this file? I really can't afford to try to reinstall Exchange right now to see if it shows up.

Recreate OWA virtual directories and check, if anything is demaged then it sould be repaired. How to Remove an Outlook Web Access Virtual Directory How to Create an Outlook Web Access Virtual Directory in Exchange 2007 After recreating OWA virtual directory make sure that you have correctly set internal and external domain name & authentication settings which you were using earlier.

Hi, Currently, please check the permissions at the user level in ADUC. In Active Directory Users & Computers, right click on the problematic user and select properties, then select Security tab. Click on Advanced button and check "Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to this object" option was checked. If not, please check it. Thanks Allen

I tried installing sp1, no luck I don't have a security tab within my adcu properties. I put an image here of my properties window to demonstrate. http://www.voast.com/msdn/adcu_tab.png Created an owa directory in a different location on my IIS. Still receiving the language select and still missing the lang.owa file.

Thank you for showing me that. I am obviously not a admin for ADUC. Unfortunately this was checked and so no change. I truly appreciate your help

Update! This is a security issue apparently. I made the user a built-in administrator and we are able to login. Obviously this isn't a fix as we don't want to make everyone administrators. we found a new issue though, I have to use the outlook light to do anything. If I don't select that I get 404 errors trying to do anything. Thanks

Hi, If it is the security issue, please use ADSI Edit tool to check what the difference between the normal user and the problematic user. Below is the instruction about the ADSI Edit tool http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/ebca3324-5427-471a-bc19-9aa1decd3d401033.mspx?mfr=true Thanks Allen
