OWA hangs trying to open some email
This is company wide. It appears to be something in the email structure. Even when the email content is deleted and the email forwarded to another OWA account it still hangs. I have been having to go in to Outlook locally and delete these emails for our OWA users. I have searched the internet and MS websites and cannot find anything about this symptom.

What type of content? Is ita certain type of attachment? A certain type of message format (HTML, rich text, plain text?) Do you have file-based antivirus software on the OWA server? Have you applied the latest Windows and Exchange updates?

Hi Don, Your issue can be caused by the corrupted mail. The bad mail can be caused by many factors: For example, some antivirus program scan the email by accident which caused the structure corrupted. (this may happen either in your server side or in some points during transport routing) Another Example is the email be stored in some corrupted page in the Exchange Database. If the email was send form a application which does not encode that email correctly may also be a problem. In this situation, we can also use MFCmapi tool to remove that emails. 1). Download the MFCMAPI at the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=55FDFFD7-1878-4637-9808-1E21ABB3AE37&displaylang=en 2). Unzip it to a folder on your client and run the MFCMAPI.exe in it. 3). Click Session menu and select "Logon and display Store Table"; select your profile and logon the mailbox.(You may click New to create users profile) 4). Double click your mailbox and open it in new window. 5). Expand "Root-container" -> "Top of information Store" -> Double click Inbox. 6). Right click the "problematic" email and choose delete message. If you would like a further analysis, please answer the questions of Jim listed above. Thank you. I await your response. Regards, Elvis
