OWA and Autodiscover URL
Howdy, I am setting up a test lab and would like touse 1 SSL Certificate from 3rd party, is there anything wrong with using autodiscover.presdomain.com for all web services? What I am getting at is, my autodiscover url would be https://autodiscover.presdomain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml and my mailbox users would access OWA using https://autodiscover.presdomain.com/owa etc etc In production, I wouldnt use that, but for this purpose, was wondering if it would work or cause issues. Thanks a bunch

Hi, Normally you would use a SAN certificate for this, with that you can assign muliple names to one certificate. With thisit's possible to make seperate addresses for the autodiscovery and owa. Regards, Johan Blog: www.johanveldhuis.nl

Yes, I am aware of SAN and is what I'll wind up using in production....I just want to see if this way is possible for my test lab. Do you know if it is?

Hi, If you have a CA in your test environment you could simply add multiple certificates to your server one for autodiscovery and one for owa. Regards, Johan blog: www.johanveldhuis.nl

Johan, I had a credit from a 3rd party CA and used it to get AutoDiscover.presdomain.com, my question is simply, can I use autodiscover.presdomain.com FQDN for autodiscover as well as my internal and external urls for OWA, OutlookAnywhere and OAB without it causing any issues? Thank

Dear customer: You can try the following method to achieve your goal: 1. Modify the InternalUrl of owa virtual directory to autodiscover.presdomain.com via Set-OWAVirtualDirectory command, 2. Add a Host record with just autodiscover.presdomain.com and point that entry to your CAS server in DNS zone. 3. Check whether you can use http://autodiscover.presdomain.com/owa to access OWA. For more information about Set-OwaVirtualDirectory, please refer to the following article: Set-OwaVirtualDirectory http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123515(EXCHG.80).aspx Hope it helps.
