OWA IM Integration (Lync 2013)

Hi,

I spent hours and hours trying to get my Exchange 2013 OWA to connect to Lync 2013 - no luck so far... what does work perfectly is the Unified Messaging integration, so Voice Access is working without any issues (calls coming in through Lync).

When trying to sign in to IM in OWA, users are getting the following: "There's a problem with IM. Please try again later."

I followed multiple troubleshooting guides, none of them helped... certificates are valid, web.config is correct, event log says "Instant Messaging Endpoint Manager was initialized successfully", Lync trusts all the mailbox servers.

With CU5 I was at least seeing DNS requests when trying to sign in (lyncdiscover.domain.name), with CU8: nothing, just nothing. Ocstracer.exe doesn't show any connection attempts. I also tried reinstalling UCMA 4 or using another mailbox server, but it's the same there. Could it be an issue of CU8?

Any hints would be greatly appreciated :-)

Stefan

I followed this guide -> "If Exchange have few CAS and Mailbox servers":
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/13168.integrating-exchange-2013-owa-and-lync-server-2013.aspx

My Mailbox servers have a certificate signed by the internal CA, e.g. with a subject name of "mbx01.local.domain" and a SAN like "DNS=mbx01.local.domain, DNS=mbx01". OWA is being accessed through a load balancer that does SSL offloading (so it connects to the CAS server with HTTP).

What worries me is that Exchange doesn't even try to reach my Lync server...

Has anyone running CU8 with Lync IM integration working in OWA?
