OWA 2010 Error Msg When Replying to or Forwarding Emails
I've been encountering an error message lately that pops up in the mail header when I attempt to reply to or forward encrypted or digitally signed emails that are part of a thread in OWA 2010 (using IE8, build 8.0.7601.17514 as my browser). The message reads: "Most of the message body is hidden. Please resize the message window and try to save or send again." It doesn't happen with all emails to which I respond, but seems to be occurring with increasing frequency when I respond to signed or encrypted mail. Both the originators and I are using X509 standard certificates issued by the same trusted CA used by everyone in our firm. Has anyone else encountered this error? If so, does anyone know what causes it, and have you discovered any kind of workaround? Any assistance, advice, or guidance would be appreciated.

Hi, From your description, you need to check the following: <1>Check whether all users have this issue <2>Check whether this issue occurs when using IE7 or IE9 <3>Check whether outlook has this issue <4>Check whether this issue occurs when sending signed or encrypted emails <5>Install the latest rollup in Exchange server and then check: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/exchange-server-and-update-rollups-builds-numbers.aspx Hope it helps. If this issue still occurs, please let us know. ThanksSophia Xu TechNet Community Support

Thanks, Sofia. In response to the five checkpoints you cite: 1. According to our corporate IT services, no other users have reported this issue - yet. 2. The issue hasn't occurred with IE7 (default browser on my previous WinXP/SP3 box), but then again, the mail client in use at the time IE7 was the default browser was ES 2003/OWA 2003, which wasn't, at least as far as I know, affected by this issue. The first instance of it occurred after our migration to Exchange Server 2010/OWA 2010 two months ago. 3. So far, I haven't had this issue with Outlook 2010, nor has anyone else in the company that I'm aware of. 4. To date, the issue has occurred only when I'm responding within an established email thread. My default setting within OWA (Options>Settings>Mail>S/MIME) is to add my digital signature to (though not encrypt) all sent messages and attachments. I have noticed, however, since my initial post that if I'm responding to mail sent by someone using a smaller font than my own default font, the error occurs more frequently than at other times (which is not to say that it makes sense that this would be the cause of the problem). At one point I was able to switch my default "message form" setting from HTML to Plain Text, which seemed to serve as a workaround in a couple of instances. Since then, however, I've been unable to retain that setting as my default, possibly due to the OWA baseline settings. 5. Unfortunately, this is a sysadmin issue over which I have no control. I will, however, see if I can verify whether or not our ES admins have installed the latest ESpatches and updates (knowing our sysadmins, I'm not sure I really want to know the answer to that question). Again, thanks for your advice!

Since posting my initial description of this problem, it appears that the issue occurs when I respond with a digitally signed piece of webmail to an originating email that was NOT digitally signed or encrypted. As a temporary workaround, I've made it a practice to respond to unsigned/unencrypted emails with another unsigned email (even though I've set my default mail setting options to digitally sign all emails).
