OWA 2007 throws a "There must be at least one name or distribution list in the To, Cc, or Bcc box." with valid addresses.
Ok Here is the setup: Hp server running 2008 SBS Standard. log into the remote workplace, check email, create email, fill out email and subject and "TO:" sections, hit send.. and.. A red Error bar across top of IE with "There must be at least one name or distribution list in the To, Cc, or Bcc box." written in it. At the end of the error is a copy icon.. hit it.. and paste here: Request Url: https://remote.mydomain.ca:443/owa/ev.owa?oeh=1&ns=EditMessage&ev=Send User host address: 192.168.0.22 User: English Administrator EX Address: /o=First Organization/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=engadmin SMTP Address: engadmin@mydomain.ca OWA version: 8.1.375.2 Mailbox server: ENGLISHSERVER.mydomain.local Exception Exception type: Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Owa.Core.OwaEventHandlerException Exception message: No recipients Call stack Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Owa.Premium.EditMessageEventHandler.ProcessMessageRequest(Action action) Now here is the head scratcher... Log in remotely from an IE8 machine.. everyting works.. no problems. Log in locally from IE7.. and I get that error.. also the client stated that they also got it remotely, however I can't reproduce that one, could be that I'm on IE8 on everything. Ideas? In the mean time I'm going to download MS's Browser Dev Images to test different IE versions in Hyper-v.

It sounds to me that the new message window hasnt completed the "check name" function properly. Its this action that underlines names after you type them and Exchange determines they are valid. I would try two things, since it seems browser/computer specific in your environment.Add the owa site to your trusted sites listhit the "compatibility mode" button at the end of the address bar.finally hit ctrk+k or the check name button before you send and see if that completes properly and if it has any relationship to this issue.Mike Crowley: MCT, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator / Messaging Administrator

Hi,I'd like to clarify the issue with you:Quota:log into the remote workplace, check email, create email, fill out email and subject and "TO:" sections, hit send.. and.. 1. Use remote desktop to connect to the client machine and then try to access(using IE 7) OWA? Then can user access OWA from that client computer?2. Please verify if you have typed the whole email address in the "TO:" area.Quota: Log in remotely from an IE8 machine.. everyting works.. no problems.1. Using same account and try to access OWA outside the company network?Or using remote desktop?2.What is the Operation System?Quota: Log in locally from IE7.. and I get that error..1.Accessing from the client computer directory?2. Is there any anti-virus application installed on the computer?Regards,Xiu

Ok so problem resolved while resolving another issue. While trying to do windows updates on of the machines that had this issue, we noticed that it was failing due to BITS not starting. While poking into the BITS service we noticed it's start up location was %fystemRoot%/system32 rather then %SystemRoot%/system32. Often caused by various types of worms.. so odly enough after fixing that issue and before any updates where installed, we noticed that remote workplace started working again. Thanks for offering help Xiu, you have helped me before by helping others and my finding your support resolutions. -Chad
