OWA 2007 Direct File Access Across Domains
Greetings,I am having difficulty getting OWA's Direct file access to work across domains. It works fine for the domain in which the exchange server resides (mydomain.com). But I can not connect to servers in other domains (admin.mydomain.com) even though I have the domains in question listed in the "treat as internal" list. I have entered the servers in the "Allow" list, they are not in the "Block" list and I have changed the "unknown server" value to allow. Users in the admin.mydomain.com domain can login to OWA (they have linked mailboxes).Any thoughts?

Hi,Do you havedomain suffixes added for admin.mydomain.com into Configure option ofRemote File Servers Tab? If not, add it and wait for 30 minutes or restart the IIS withiisreset /noforce command for immediate effect.References:Server Configuration > Client Access > Outlook Web Access > Remote File Servers Tabhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998549.aspxHow to Configure Windows SharePoint Services and Windows File Share Integration for Outlook Web Accesshttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998576.aspxAmit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Yes, I have admin.mydomain.com added to the suffix tab.Users in both the mydomain.com domain and in the admin.mydomain.com domains can connect to servers in the mydomain.com domain. But users in either domain can not attach to servers in the admin.mydomain.com domain. Seems like a permissions issue some how. It seems as though the suffix tab is being ignored. Any other thoughts? Does there need to be a bind account of some other tie between the two domains?

Well, I found out what I did wrong. It appears as though I needed to use the FQDN of the servers located in the child domain when adding them to the remote servers tab. Moreover, the OWA user needs to use the FQDN of the server when attempting touser DFA with servers in child domains. I thought the suffix list wouldn't make this necessary, butI was wrong. The good news is that all is working well! Thanks to those who offered assistance!
