OUTLOOK Error in .pst

Have used IMAP to take backup of mails then move to local folder so can empty online webmail, cant delete as mails are important

The file D:\DEVAJIT\OUTLOOK_DATA\DC_TOTAL.pst has reached its maximum size. to reduce the amount of data in this file, select some items that you no longer need, and then permanently delete them by pressing SHIFT+DELETE. you could also consider using the new OUTLOOK PERSONAL FILE (.pst) introduced with OUTLOOK 2003 that provides greater capacity for storing items and folder

Outlook 2003 is configured with 20 GB PST storage limit.

Let me know current size of your PST file ?

Permanent deletion is not a healthy solution for users. You can compact/divide PST file to avoid oversize issues.

One must split the large PST files into yearly archives to manage the size of PST files and allow Outlook to work smoothly. There are few tools also available for splitting large PST file according to date, email address etc but you have to pay some price for that. For free option to split PST file follow the steps mentioned in article here http://www.womantechie.com/how-to/split-large-pst-file-into-yearlyt-archive/

Hi,

The error message indicates that you are using an old format .pst (commonly known as ANSI PST) file and have reached it's maximum size. This ANSI .pst file has a limitation of up to 65,000 items per folder and an overall PST size of 2 GB.

The "new OUTLOOK PERSONAL FILE (.pst)" mentioned in the message refers to the new Unicode PST which was introduced since Outlook 2003. It supports Unicode formatting and provide large file size support.

We highly recommended that you upgrade to the Unicode PST format. To create a Unicode .pst file, in Outlook client (newer than Outlook 2003), go to Home tab-> button New Items-> More Items-> Outlook Data File. Then, move your emails to this .pst file instead.

Hope this helps.
