ODBC Connection failed - error message

Hello

Im trying to import an Access query into Excel via the Microsoft Query function using a single ODBC connection.  While I have several MS query sheets that are working perfectly wellwhich were created some months ago, my latest attempts are coming back with the following error message:

ODBC Connection to original data source failed

Ive done a few forum searches which mention 32/64 bit mismatch but that isnt the case here.

The ODBC connection has been setup using ODBC driver 11 for SQL server (and SQL Server Native Client 11.0 on a different machine still doesnt work)

Access is 2007 and Excel is 2010 versions. To note- even trying to connect using Excel 2013 has the same problem.

Any new connections using the Access database by itself work perfectly fine and any existing excel refreshes from the access databasevia Microsoft Query also works fine. Creating a new query in Excel by setting up a Microsoft query from external data sources is where this seems to be falling apart

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the very detailed information, it was very helpful for us to narrow down the issue.

Have you tried to add a new Data Source from ODBC Data Source Administrator? If not, please try to create a New Data Source from there, pick a driver suit your query.

Let me know the result, thank you.
