OAB generation server and delivery
Hello, In the properties of the OAB I have Public Folder Database with a number as generation server and under Distribution Points all is fade out. I think something is wrong and infact I am having address books not being found or updated errors from Outlook clients. Instead of Public Folder there should be the server as a generation server right ? Thank you

Hi What clients are you using? Which version of Outlook? If you do an update on the OAB, what does the event log tells you? There should be a generation server yesJonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog

so shell I remove the Public Folder Database as the server and specify a mailbox server ? Let's say that I delete the address book and create it again , does this work as nothing happened and all list is created ? Clients are using mixed 2003/2007 Outlook however Object cannot be found is appearing on Outlook 2003 I think that the address book is not being generated on the correct server, can I remove the Public Folder and specify the server, will this work ?

Or maybe can I just add an additional address book with the correct generation server and make it as the default, does this cause any problems to client like for example double address books/duplicate entries ?

I created a new OAB but do I have to do something to make it work instantly In event viewer I am having error that no Public server folder is available and since I have 2003 Outlook clients I need it

Hi, The OAB generation server must be the Mailbox server. In Exchange 2003, the Outlook clients use Public Folder to download the OAB. In Exchange 2007, you can download the OAB via the Public Folder or CAS (Web Distribution). The Public Folder Database and the CAS are two methods to distribute the OAB files. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124270(EXCHG.80).aspx Thanks Allen Allen Song

Unfortunately after creating a new OAB and enabled web and Public folder distribution and set it is default I am still getting the same object cannot be found error on Outlook 2003. IS there any other fix which I might try. I am sure it is something to do with OAB as the error occurs even when I try to download the OAB on its own. server is Exchange 2010 and the problem seems to be occurring only on Outlook 2003 as all other Outlook 2007 are updating the OAB fine. how can I narrow down the problem. Thanks

Hi, Is the mailbox database associated with the Public Folder Database? If not, please ensure every mailbox database to be associated with the Public Folder Database. Then you could run get-publicfolder -identity "\NON_IPM|SUBTREE\Offline Address Book" -recurse | fl name, replicas Then post the information here. AllenAllen Song

Hi, It's my mistake. The command should be get-publicfolder -identity "\NON_IPM_SUBTREE\OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK" -recurse |fl Thanks AllenAllen Song
