OAB generation failing since adding a subdomain
Exchange 2007 SP1Windows 2008 serverCCR mailbox clusterWindows 2008 AD functional levelExchange forest is corp.internalSince adding a child domain, prod.corp.internal, to the forest which hosts our Exchange 2007 org, offline address book generation has been failing with errors 9330 and 9334. This is the message for the 9330 error:OALGen encountered error 80040115 (internal ID 50004ef) accessing Active Directory PROD-DC01 for ''. - /o=Company/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address Book I found basic troubleshooting regarding OAB generation on the primary CCR node, but I had none of the conditions causing this error. The object "o=Company/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address Book " doesn't exist in prod.corp.internal. I checked DNS, and PROD-DC01 isn't mistakenly listed as a corp.internal DC or server or anything like that. Here's where I might expose profound stupidity: my parent and child domains are in the same AD site, but on different subnets. I did this because they are in the same physical location, and the servers connect to the same core switch. Should I create a new AD site for the child domain, so that the mailbox servers don't attempt to use the child domain DCs? Is there a more elegant way to fix this?

Hi, You can try to use Static Domain Controllers for your OAB generation server using Set-ExchangeServer command. After setting it that server will always use the DCs which u set. You can use it like this Set-ExchangeServer -Identity YourExchangeServer -StaticDomainControllers:dc1.domain.com,dc2.domain.com,dc3.domain.com You can also exclude some DC from Exchange server using above command with -StaticExcludedDomainControllers parameter. Have a look into it. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123716.aspx You can change this setting later if it doesnt work You can see those DCs in EMC by going to Server Configuration->ServerRole (Mailbox etc) Then Right click any server and select properties and then "System Settings" tab. There u can see DCs and GCs selected by Exchange. Regards, Laeeq Qazi|Team Lead(Exchange + Sharepoint + BES + DynamicsCRM) www.HostingController.com
