No non-delivery when sent from distribution list
We have an Exchange 2003 server. We created a distribution list and put it in the public folders. We send email to multiple recipients and would like to get a non-delivery report sent back to the distribution list when there is an invalid email address that we are sending to. From Outlook we always select the From button to make sure it is being sent from the distribution email address. But we never get a non-delivery report. I've tested this by sending to an invalid address. I can send email to the distribution list, but cannot get the non-delivery to work. Non-delivery works fine for users, just not the distribution list. Any ideas for what I should check ? Thanks, Ray

Hi Ray, Please read Q4 from KB 839949: Delivery status notifications or non-delivery reports (NDRs) are not delivered to the distribution group. Why? "Exchange server does not send NDRs, read receipts, delivery receipts, or out-of-office messages to members of distribution groups.Delivery status notifications are sent either to the sender of the message or to the owner of the distribution group and NDRs are sent only to the owner of the distribution group.
