Newly Created Distribution Groups Not Showing Up In Global Address Book
Our company has an Exchange Server, and hitherto recently whenever a new user or distribution group was added to the network, the Global Address Book would reflect the addition. This morning, an admin added several distribution groups, but they're not showing up in the GAB. The group properties have been examined and appear to have been configured properly. We've tried logging out and logging back in, and viewing the GAB from other users' workstations, but the groups are still not showing up. Thanks in advace for any assistance you offer.

Hi pdeyo A couple of thoughts on this. I'm assuming Exchange 2003? 1. Is the DG definitely mail-enabled? In other words, you assigned an email address at the time you created it? 2. If you are using Outlook 2003 or 2007 in cached mode, the default is to use the Offline Address Book. Depending on the OAB generation schedule, you might not see the changes in the OAB for 24 hours or more. 3. The Recipient Update Service (RUS) might not be working correctly. Have a look to see if your newly created DGs have the msExchALObjectVersion attribute. You can use ADSIEdit or LDP.EXE to do this. This attribute is one of many that it set when RUS stamps the object. Tony www.activedir.org

Thank you! We discovered the RUS was pointed to the wrong server.

Create new DG only from EMS which correct create group and his attributes. I solve same problem deleting group on the active directory server and re-create from EMS2007. In few minutes I can found group in GAL through outlook 2007 with cache mode.
